The biggest attraction is obviously the beach. You can swim and kayak right from the property. If you are feeling tired, just sit and enjoy the everchanging views of the beach, the water and the sunsets. Or take a quick walk to the other end of the road for tennis and basketball courts and a playground for the kids. Or bring your bikes and enjoy the many bike trails on the Cape.
Below is a list of places to go for some of the basics that most people would need if staying in a new place for a week. I tried to list things here that are really close to the cottages, and they are listed by how far away they are.
Homemade ice cream. In the building with the post office.
Bagels, paninis, smoothies, acai bowls, coffee. Only morning/lunch on Thursday-Sunday.
Breakfast sandwiches, muffins, cookies, pastries, cakes.
Casual seafood restaurent and bar. They also have a fish market. It is always crowded.
Pizza, subs and more. They deliver and they also have plenty of room to eat there. About 2 miles away down Shore Rd.
Breakfast and lunch only. Very small eat-in cafe with a bakery about 2 miles away down Shore Road.
Pizza, subs and salads.
Small Cambodian food restaurant.
Small casual Thai restaurant with delivery and pickup. Closed on Mondays. They started on Shore Rd, and moved a couple years ago.
Small Chinese food restaurant. It's right next to the Aubuchon Hardware store.
Casual, but pricey because of its great waterfront location at Kingman's Marina. It also has a piano bar and outdoor seating.
Well, it is walking distance away so it is good for small things like drinks and snacks. Our boys love the Slushies.
A small market with most of the basics if you just need a couple things. They have a deli, with sandwiches and ready-made meals. They also sell beer and wine.
A larger market about 2 miles away that probably has anything you would need in the neighboring village of Pocasset. It has a decent deli in the back.
The closest real supermarket. It is next to the Sagamore Bridge, which means it is only about 10 minutes away when there is no traffic. Morning and afternoon on the weekend is probably not the time to go here unless you like sitting in traffic.
There are 3 Stop & Shops, all about 15-20 minutes away minutes away. The one in Wareham is probably the closest. The one in Mashpee is the farthest, but you can get there easily on a weekend. Search the Stop and Shop site for the addresses - the zip code for Monument Beach is 02553.
This is the closest laundromat and they also do dry-cleaning. It is up by the rotary; you may have passed it on your way to the cottages. It is next to a convenience store.
This is the closest pharmacy. There is also a CVS on the other side of of the Bourne Bridge.

Good beer and alcohol selection, but weak for wine.
Suprisingly good wine selection, but it is not the cheapest place around.
I don't know why you would need a hardware store if you are on vacation, but this is the closest one, and they are very nice.
